Urban Bird Hike

Urban Bird Hike

Lakeshore State Park is home to over 70 native and migratory species of birds, and the spring is an excellent time to spot some of our returning friends! Join us on a hike to learn the basics of bird watching and seek out some of these beautiful species. Each bird hike is unique as migration causes our residents to change throughout the year. 

All ages and abilities are welcome, meet at the park’s south entrance. We recommend bringing your own binoculars, but a small number are available to those who need them.

Curious about plants? Come join one of our naturalists at Lakeshore State Park to learn about the native plants on the property. With Lakeshore being home to over 200 native plants, it’s a great place to learn about the varying plants that come into bloom each month throughout the park.

Heavy Metal Summer Experience Registration

HMSE Description

Camp Snapshot:

  • Camp Dates: 6/23/25 - 6/27/25

  • Schedule: 8:00am - 2:30pm

  • Location: Milwaukee-SMACCA & JATC, Milwaukee, WI

  • Topic: Sheet Metal, Piping, Plumbing

Through exposure to sheet metal, piping, and plumbing trades, Heavy Metal Summer Experience high school students explore the trades and become part of a team that builds community. Every camp is unique, but all are built to offer students hands-on learning through projects and working alongside craft professionals. Students also tour active job sites and union training facilities for a glimpse at local apprenticeship programs to see first-hand what it takes to succeed.

Many come away interested in an alternative to the traditional 4-year degree and energized at the prospect of:

  • a debt-free education

  • high pay and,

  • job security

Always with a focus on safety, students gain exposure to all aspects of construction from BIM through fabrication and installation. Taught by working craft professionals who are ready to share their career paths and advice.

One week camp at three locations! Must be able to attend all days.
